Getting Started: Your First Stage | WRONG WAY!

Your first useful goal is a completed stage with a crew routine you can repeat.

Quick answer

Choose who drives and who reads the pace notes. Use quick calls if you have no mic. The First Finish badge requires finishing your first stage.

Get ready, communicate, finish

    Success check
You understand the roles and can try the next task.
    If it remains unclear

    §Decide who owns each task#

The official description assigns steering to the driver. The co-driver reads the pace notes, communicates the calls and pulls the handbrake. Avoid both players guessing who should do the handbrake task when a corner arrives.

The current listing and official promotional image advertise four players in one car. The official description explains the driver and co-driver duties; it does not assign separate jobs to the third and fourth players. Check the current role prompts before assigning additional tasks.

      §A repeatable first-run routine#

The following is a practice recommendation based on the published roles. It has not been tested as an optimal run or a guaranteed medal method.

        1. 1. Agree on roles

          Before you start
You have a partner, or you can select a robot partner.
          Action
Pick one player to steer and one to read calls. Agree that the co-driver handles the handbrake task shown in the game.
          Success check
Both players can state their task before the stage begins.
          If it fails
Use a robot co-driver to practice driving if your human partner is unavailable.
        2. 2. Test one communication method

          Before you start
The game shows the current controls and quick-call interface.
          Action
Try the displayed quick call before relying on it at speed. With voice, keep one caller and repeat only a missed call.
          Success check
The driver recognizes the next direction before entering the bend.
          If it fails
Use the developer-supported quick calls when voice communication is unavailable.
        3. 3. Finish before chasing pace

          Before you start
Your crew can steer and communicate.
          Action
Aim for a complete stage. When a bend causes trouble, remember whether the call, approach or handbrake coordination was late.
          Success check
You reach the stage finish and can identify one part to improve.
          If it fails
Repeat with the same roles and change only the timing that caused the mistake.
        4. 4. Choose the next goal

          Before you start
          You have completed a stage.
          Action
Use the results and badge list to choose a gold-medal attempt, a race win or a full championship.
          Success check
The next run has one clear goal.
          If it fails
Practice the same stage again if you still cannot follow calls reliably.

        Success check
You understand the roles and can try the next task.
        If it remains unclear
Check the active role and current game prompts.

        §Control bindings: what is confirmed#

Quick calls without a mic are officially supported. The paid Horns pass description specifies H to honk. The records checked here do not give a complete keyboard, touch or controller mapping, so use the active in-game prompts for steering, calls and handbrake inputs.

The Horns pass lists H to honk. If you are learning the handbrake or quick calls, use their own on-screen prompts; the horn key does not provide those controls.
